A special opportunity to see Sue Wickison’s stunning botanical illustrations in this exhibition of 31 paintings of plants mentioned in the Holy Qur’an.
First showcased at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew and now on display at Cartwright Hall, this exhibition is the culmination of a research project lasting several years, undertaken by Kew scientist, Dr Shahina Ghazanfar, in collaboration with renowned scientific artist, Sue Wickison.

The exhibition begins 22 June until 8 September. Open Tuesday – Friday 10:00 – 16:00, Saturday and Sunday 11:00 – 16:00, closed Mondays except bank holidays.

About the Curator
Sue Wickison
Sue Wickison, born and raised in Sierra Leone, developed her love for natural history from her father, a teacher and amateur botanist. Her accolades include the 2023 Jill Smythies Award and a 2024 Fellowship with the Linnean Society. Her work includes the Plants of the Qur’ān exhibition at Kew Gardens, and her art is featured in prestigious collections worldwide. She has also created over 50 natural history stamps for ten Pacific countries. Now based in New Zealand, she continues her freelance botanical artistry, focusing on both native and internationally significant flora.
