Description

Set in Baghdad during the winter 2006, extreme sectarian violence is rife across the country, with nightly curfews amid the ongoing occupation. Struggling writer and anxious mother, Sara, is at the heart of a small Baghdad community, where other ordinary Iraqis trying to live their lives. 

Throughout the chaos and destruction, they never let their hopes for the future fade, but are repeatedly forced to ask themselves a painful question: who does Baghdad really belong to now?

Maysoon Pachachi’s fiction feature debut is remarkable and moving; a compelling view of everyday life in a war zone.

Our River … Our Sky won the British Independent Film Award for best ensemble picture and it is remarkable for the interweaving stories and cast of memorable characters.

Maysoon Pachachi

Maysoon Pachachi is a film director, editor and producer of Iraqi origin.She has made documentaries in Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon] Aside from making films, Maysoon has also taught film directing and editing in Britain, Iraq and Palestine. She now lives in Britain where she co-founded Act Together: Women Against Sanctions and War on Iraq, a group of UK-based Iraqi and non-Iraqi women formed in 2000 to campaign against the economic sanctions on Iraq.
