In this exclusive tour, experts from the Bradford Police Museum will take you on a journey through time to uncover the history of policing, crime and criminal justice, from the 19th century to the modern day.
Dressed in authentic Victorian garb, guides will escort you on a walking tour of historic locations that have become synonymous with crime and give you an insight into the events that shaped the dark and murky parts of the city’s folklore.
From unsolved deaths at the Midland Hotel, where staff were found dead beneath the dinner lift, to Rimmington’s Pharmacy where the ‘Humbug Billy’ poisonings were investigated, Bradford is steeped in grisly Victorian mysteries that helped to inspire some of the 19th century’s best crime writing.
The tour will start and end at the Bradford Police Museum, one of the city’s hidden gems, and take you on a crime-themed adventure that you’ll never forget.
This is an outdoor walking tour. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.

Alan Whitrick is a volunteer guide for the Bradford Police Museum as well as a qualified Blue Badge Tourist guide for the Bradford area. A proud Bradfordian, Alan is passionate about local history, folklore and the Yorkshire dialect. He loves classic cars and is a trustee of the Bradford Trolleybus Association. The group is currently restoring Bradford Trolleybus No.758. Withdrawn in 1971, it was the last rear entrance trolleybus in service in Great Britain.
