Ben is a master of urban fantasy whose Rivers of London series has become a runaway success. Jonathan is another giant of the genre and author of the acclaimed Lockwood and Co series, recently adapted by Netflix where it’s proved a big hit.
Jonathan’s stories are typically set in an alternative history London and have been praised for their satire and use of magic to reflect themes of class struggle. Ben made his name with his Rivers of London books, centring on detective constable Peter Grant. These now encompass nine novels, various short stories, novellas and graphic novels, with plans for a hotly anticipated upcoming TV adaptation.

Ben Aaronovitch
Before becoming a bestselling author, Ben Aaronovitch was a screenwriter for Doctor Who and a bookseller at Waterstones. He now writes full time, and every book in his Rivers of London series has been a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller. He is published in 14 languages and has sold more than 2 million copies around the world. Aaronovitch is also a trustee on the board of Cityread London and is a long-time supporter of Nigeria’s premiere arts and cultural festival, The Aké Festival. He still lives in London, the city he likes to refer to as ‘the capital of the world’.
Jonathan Stroud
Jonathan Stroud wrote his first novel Buried Fire while working as an editor at Walker Books. He is the author of three internationally bestselling series: the award-winning Bartimaeus sequence, which has been published in 36 languages worldwide; the critically acclaimed Lockwood & Co, which was adapted for TV in 2023 by Netflix, quickly securing the global number one slot as the streamer’s most popular show; and the Scarlett and Browne adventures, set to be made into a film by Temple Hill Entertainment. His other novels include The Leap, The Last Siege and Heroes of the Valley. Jonathan lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and three children.
