The couple, whose DI Jack Dylan series is now onto its ninth book, have worked as consultants on several police dramas, including the BBC’s award-winning Happy Valley, with their inside knowledge giving them, and their books, an added dose of authenticity.
This event is chaired by former detective turned bestselling crime writer Graham Bartlett. They will be joined by expert forensic make-up artist Pamela Clare who will reveal the industry secrets of how bullet wounds and severed arteries are created for TV dramas – audience participation will be required, so not one for the faint-hearted!

R. C. Bridgestock
Former Head of CID Bob Bridgestock is now an international best selling author, along with his wife Carol who also worked for West Yorkshire Police. In the last 3 yrs of his 30 years service, Bob took charge of 26 murders, 24 major incidents, over 50 suspicious deaths and numerous sexual assaults; he was a Force negotiator for kidnap, extortion, suicide intervention and terrorism.
The couple who write under the pen name of R.C Bridgestock, use almost 50 years combined police experience to write the Yorkshire D.I Jack Dylan & D.I Charley Mann series, and have just submitted a standalone to their agent David H Headley, also they are working on D.I Chaley Mann book 5. Carol and Bob were voted WHS Readers #8 Best Crime Writers Of All Time.
The pair are credited storyline consultants/police procedure for BAFTA winning BBC1 police drama Happy Valley, as well as Scott & Bailey and Britbox original The Beast Must Die.
Carol and Bob are also Directors, and Co-Founders of Walking The Line Ltd. Presently, they working on a six part docu/drama series optioned by Hell Fire productions, Leeds, as well as filming for a crime documentary, and filming and advising on a two-part film for ITN.
Graham Bartlett
Graham Bartlett, former chief superintendent and divisional commander of Brighton and Hove police, is an accomplished author. Collaborating with bestselling author Peter James, his books Death Comes Knocking and Babes in the Wood soared to the Sunday Times Top Ten. Continuing the series, Bartlett released Bad for Good, Force of Hate, and City on Fire in March 2024, all featuring Chief Superintendent Jo Howe. Beyond writing, he serves as a police procedural and crime advisor, lending authenticity to numerous authors and TV writers seeking accuracy in their work.
