Description
If you’re a fan of Yorkshire’s most famous literary family then you don’t want to miss this event with Brontë enthusiast Blake Morrison.
The works of Charlotte, Emily and Anne and the stories that shaped them have left an indelible mark on modern popular culture and still inspire writers today. Writers like Blake, who reworked Chekhov’s The Three Sisters as a play about the Brontës.
Blake will explore the sisters’ remarkable legacy and discuss some of the sisters’ rare manuscripts and first editions that form part of the Blavatnik Honresfield Library. Blake will be joined by an actor to breathe new life into the Brontës’ words.
The Blavatnik Honresfield Library was purchased for the nation in 2022 by the Friends of the National Libraries with the support of the Blavatnik Family Foundation, the National Heritage Memorial Fund and many other generous supporters.
This event is co-produced with the British Library.
