Atif Tauqeer is a hugely popular Pakistani journalist, poet, writer, vlogger and media researcher based in Germany. He is a poet rooted in tradition and modernity at the same time, one who grapples with the subjects of our time. Tauqueer has been hailed as a poet who stands out for his unfathomable talent and craft.

About the Poet
Atif Tauqeer
Atif Tauqeer is a multifaceted Pakistani journalist, poet, writer, vlogger, and media researcher. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Karachi, followed by a master’s in international media studies from the University of Bonn, Germany. Atif’s influence in Urdu literature has been significant since the early 1990s, with his poignant poem Shukria, penned in 1999, standing out for its critique of military intervention in politics. His literary contributions also include impactful works like Aytaraf (Confession), Talibani Darinday (Taliban Beasts), and Mutaliba (Demand). Atif Tauqeer continues to shape contemporary Urdu literature and media discourse with his insightful and provocative writings. He is currently working on an English novel.
About the Moderator
Tasneem Hassan
Tasneem Hassan is an Urdu poet and health professional based in the North of England. Her distinct poetic style features strong diction and the fusion of classic and modern Urdu language. Tasneem’s poetry has been published widely and she has performed at literary festivals and mushaira events internationally. Tasneem is vice chair of Yorkshire Adabee Forum.
