Description

Join Bradford-born master storyteller, Trish Cooke, in this story workshop exploring her new book, The Magic Callaloo, inspired by her ancestors and the roads they walked.

Long ago and far away, a magic callaloo plant grew in a village square. Whoever ate one of its leaves was granted a wish, but a greedy, selfish man wanted all the wishes for himself, so he stole the callaloo. With only one leaf left, Mister and Missus, desperate for a child, pluck it to make their dream come true. The greedy man, however, wants everything, and he kidnaps their beloved daughter…will she make the most remarkable escape?

The Magic Callaloo is based on the story of Rapunzel and inspired by stories of enslaved Africans with beautiful imagery and a message that sows the seeds of hope.

Please book separate tickets for yourself an any children attending.
