Calling all comic book fans! Join two of the biggest names in the business, Dave Gibbons and Tim Pilcher, as they discuss their fascinating careers in comics in what promises to be a memorable event.
As co-creator of Watchmen, the bestselling graphic novel of all time, and with a back catalogue that includes everything from Doctor Who to Batman, Gibbons is comic book royalty. He will discuss his new book, Confabulation: An Anecdotal Autobiography, which is full of stories about his journey from fanzine artist to infiltrating DC Comics in the 1970s, and being the first Comics Laureate.
Dave is joined by comic book expert, writer and historian, Tim Pilcher, co-author of Confabulation and current Chair of the Comic Book Alliance, dubbed ‘the Voice of the British comics industry’.
Together, this dynamic duo will peel back the layers of their careers in comics, discuss how the industry has changed, and how their friendship turned into collaboration.

Dave Gibbons
Dave Gibbons, renowned in comics and Fanzines, began in British underground scene before contributing to 2000AD, creating iconic characters like Rogue Trooper. His versatile talent led him to work with major publishers worldwide, from Doctor Who to Watchmen, the best-selling graphic novel adapted into a film and TV series. Awarded the Eisner for The Originals, his recent works include Kingsman: The Secret Service. Beyond comics, he co-created the cult classic video game Beneath a Steel Sky, followed by its sequel. Named “UK Comics Laureate” in 2014, Gibbons continues to innovate, with an upcoming memoir chronicling his extraordinary journey in comics.
Tim Pilcher
Tim Pilcher, an award-winning writer, editor, and publisher, boasts an illustrious career in the comic industry. From his tenure at DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint to co-founding Les Cartoonistes Dangereux, he’s left an indelible mark. Pilcher’s authored over 20 books, including Erotic Comics: A Graphic History and How Comics Work, which earned an Eisner nomination. He’s lectured at esteemed institutions worldwide and curated numerous comic projects. With a passion for the art form, Pilcher’s contributions extend to scholarly essays and editing projects for renowned publishers like Humanoids and Fantagraphics. As head of Humanoids UK and co-publisher of Soaring Penguin Press, he continues to shape the industry.
